12. Dance Theatre of Harlem
Established in 1969, The Dance Theatre of Harlem is a haven for dancers who crave training, experience, and community. During the COVID pandemic, they virtually opened their doors to everyone, and now you can benefit from their world-class teaching! Their YouTube channel has dozens of videos, mainly focused on ballet. However, they have some Bomba and Umfundalai African dance courses available as well.
The Dance Theatre of Harlem courses are for people who have at least some dance experience, so if you’re just starting, you may want to choose one of their other options. However, instructors include examples of the moves at the beginning of their classes before going fully into choreography. That way, you can practice and follow along if you want! See how much you can improve throughout the course! Some videos of include: Contemporary Ballet Explorations: Contemporary Ballet Explorations with DTH Alumna Endalyn Taylor or Bomba: Bomba with School Instructor Luz Iturbe of Dance Theatre of Harlem.
