
Beach Volleyball Star Misty May-Treanor Won Gold After Ruptured Achilles
Misty May-Treanor’s injury occurred 2008 when she landed awkwardly after practicing for Dancing With The Stars. She immediately felt a sharp pain in her Achilles tendon, and tests later confirmed that it was a complete rupture. The injury required surgery and several months of intense rehabilitation to regain strength and mobility in her foot and ankle. Despite the long road to recovery, May-Treanor was determined to return to competition and defend her Olympic titles.
After months of rehabilitation, May-Treanor returned to the court and continued to dominate the sport of beach volleyball. She and her partner, Kerri Walsh Jennings, went on to win the gold medal at the 2012 London Olympics, making it their third consecutive gold medal together.
