Alex Smith Made A 2020 Comeback After Compound Fracture
Football players are no stranger to injury. In November 2018, Alex Smith, the quarterback for the Washington Redskins, suffered a devastating injury during a game against the Houston Texans. He was sacked and his leg twisted awkwardly beneath him, causing a compound fracture in his tibia and fibula. The injury was so severe that Smith required immediate surgery and was at risk of losing his leg due to the risk of infection. Over the next few weeks, Smith underwent several surgeries and was in and out of the hospital for treatment.
Smith also faced setbacks and complications during his recovery, including an infection that required more surgery and a prolonged stay in the hospital. Despite the odds, Smith persevered and eventually returned to the field in 2020, after a grueling rehabilitation process that included learning how to walk again. His return defied all expectations. Photos of his injury online show the extensive damage that he had to overcome to get back on the field.
