Approximately 30 women were shown a picture of a man along with a brief description of his hobbies, including instances where volunteer work was mentioned. Similarly, about 30 men were shown a picture of a woman, and the same procedure was followed. Participants rated the attractiveness of the person in the picture for both short- and long-term relationships. Results revealed that individuals described as volunteers were deemed more attractive for a long-term relationship by both genders, with women rating men as significantly more attractive.
