Covid-19 has a lot of long-term neurological symptoms including encephalitis (brain swelling), increased risk of stroke, and neurological damage. Its effects can be long-lasting as well. The widespread inflammation through your nervous system can also cause permanent damage, including long-lasting brain fog.
While certain lifestyle choices make you more likely to experience a stroke, the onset of a stroke is often sudden. It happens when a blood vessel in the brain bursts or a clot blocks blood flow. Without blood flow and oxygen, brain cells start to die and it affects a person’s ability to communicate. While brain fog is normal, sudden confusion or an inability to speak or understand speech could indicate a stroke.
