Experts designed virtual-reality programs to help people meditate by allowing them to visualize a calming place actively. If you have more than five minutes to imagine yourself somewhere else, or you need some extra help with taming stressful thoughts, virtual-reality meditation may help.

The way that it works is you add the meditation program to your virtual-reality headset. The program has a set of relaxing displays for you to choose from; some even allow you to create your own setting. You sit in silence and meditate while looking at the calming scene for anywhere from 20 minutes to two hours.
