
25. Stop and listen to how you are talking to yourself.
Most people would never imagine talking to a friend the way that they talk to themselves? Why? Because their self-talk is so derogatory and harmful that if they spoke to anyone else that way, they would lose all of their friends and loved ones very quickly. If you are one of the many people who talk to yourself so cruelly that you can barely function, stop, and consider that no one will ever spend more time with you than you do with yourself.

Imagine having to live with someone mean and need to get away. Yet, you have to live with yourself 24/7! Start being kind to yourself. Pay attention to the negative self-talk and stop it in its tracks. Change those accusations to positive and affirming words of praise. Stop saying that no one loves you, and remind yourself that you love yourself and want to take good care of yourself. Change those voices in your head so that they start to talk like someone who likes you. Always speak to yourself as though you were talking to a friend.
