Natural Ways to Whiten Teeth At Home

Oil pulling is not a technique that people think works because it doesn’t whiten teeth as they want. However, it does clean your mouth and take away some of the plaque. Shutterstock.

Try Oil Pulling

There is an old trick that many people use to this day. Most people use sunflower or sesame seed oil, but you can also use coconut oil. One reason for this change is that coconut oil has many health benefits that many other oils don’t provide. On top of that, it has a better taste that helps you make it through the process a little easier. Not only does swishing oil in your mouth create whiter teeth whiter, but it also helps kill bacteria.

To use this method, you want to put one tablespoon of coconut oil in your mouth while you push and pull the oil through your teeth. You should continue this process for 15 to 20 minutes, once the oil melts because coconut oil becomes solid at room temperature. One key is to not spit the oil out in your sink because it can clog your pipes once it hits room temperature again. Instead, spit it out in a tin that you can throw or garbage. You can also use your toilet.
